Orange & Black Give Back

Orange and Black Give Back is Mercer’s online-based fundraising campaign that offers an easy way to support current Mercer students and programs.

The campaign kicks off officially at 8:00 a.m. ET Monday, May 6, 2024, and ends at 8:00 p.m. ET Sunday, May 12, 2024.

Your gift is a vital investment in the lives of current Mercer students. Combined with the gifts of other alumni, parents, and friends, your generosity makes the difference between covering essential student needs and providing an exceptional Mercer experience. Every gift matters to us and is put to use immediately for academic resources. Additionally, your giving will impact the University’s rankings in national publications as alumni giving participation is factored into evaluations.

Visit MUgiveback.com between 8:00 a.m. ET on Monday, May 6, 2024, and 8:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 12, 2024, and support the school/college/program of your choice.

Since Orange and Black Give Back only lasts a week, we strongly encourage you to make your gift online. This is the only way to assure that your gift will qualify for matches and challenges taking place throughout the event. To give by phone, you may call 478-301-2715 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET on Monday, May 6, 2024, through Sunday, May 12, 2024, but we cannot guarantee these gifts will count towards giving matches and challenges.

Orange and Black Give Back is a campaign for the Annual Funds of each of our Schools and Colleges. Each annual fund goes to support current students by covering academic resources, student scholarships, and other areas not funded by tuition. You can also select for your gift to support the Mercer Athletic Foundation, University Library or Mercer On Mission.

If you are not able to find the area you would like to support, please select “Other” in the drop down menu, and include the program and/or fund name you wish to support in the Final Steps section. We will ensure your gift is designated appropriately.

Any gift made towards an Annual Fund (college, school, or Mercer Athletic Foundation) during the Orange and Black Give Back campaign will count for the 2024 Greek Challenge. Supporting challenges and matching opportunities is a meaningful way to demonstrate investment to Mercer University. A complete list of challenges will be present on the website on the Challenges page, and active matches and challenges can be viewed on the main landing page and the participating group landing page for the benefitting area.

Share your stories and images using the hashtag #MUGiveBack to help spread the word! You can also become a Week of Giving ambassador, sharing messages and creating excitement about the event before and during the campaign. Spread awareness within your network using your preferred forms of communication and encourage others to join you in giving back to Mercer. Help the areas of Mercer you care most about earn matches and challenges throughout the week to maximize the power of gifts.

Thousands of companies match gifts to higher education, which can double or triple your gift. To find out if your employer (or your spouse’s employer) has a matching gift program, please visit Matching Gifts. If so, please contact your Human Resources representative for a matching gift form. You may need to provide Mercer’s Employer Identification Number (EIN) on the form, which is 58-0566167.

Mercer University is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your gift may provide you with federal and state income tax benefits:

• If you itemize deductions on your federal income tax return, you may be able to deduct your contribution to Mercer University from your adjusted gross income.
• Your state may also allow a credit or deduction.

Though the Week of Giving 2024 ends May 12, it’s never too late to give, and you can make a gift any time. Your gift won’t count toward this year’s giving day totals after 8:00 p.m. (ET) on May 12, but it’s your impact that matters most anyway—and you’ll be making a big one.
