Orange & Black Give Back

Orange and Black Give Back is Mercer’s online-based fundraising campaign that offers an easy way to support current Mercer students and programs.

The campaign typically takes place the first week of May.

Your gift is a vital investment in the lives of current Mercer students. Combined with the gifts of other alumni, parents, and friends, your generosity makes the difference between covering essential student needs and providing an exceptional Mercer experience. Every gift matters to us and is put to use immediately for academic resources. Additionally, your giving will impact the University’s rankings in national publications as alumni giving participation is factored into evaluations.

Since Orange and Black Give Back only lasts a week, we strongly encourage you to make your gift online. This is the only way to assure that your gift will qualify for matches and challenges taking place throughout the event.

Orange and Black Give Back is a campaign for the Annual Funds of each of our Schools and Colleges. Each annual fund goes to support current students by covering academic resources, student scholarships, and other areas not funded by tuition. You can also select for your gift to support the Mercer Athletic Foundation, University Library or Mercer On Mission.

If you are not able to find the area you would like to support, you may select “Other” in the drop-down menu, and include the program and/or fund name you wish to support in the Final Steps section. We will ensure your gift is designated appropriately.

Any gift made towards an Annual Fund (college, school, or Mercer Athletic Foundation) during the Orange and Black Give Back campaign will count for the 2027 Greek Challenge. Gifts to directly support Greek Chapters do not count towards the Greek Challenge. Visit Greek Challenge for more information.

Supporting challenges and matching opportunities is a meaningful way to demonstrate investment to Mercer University. A complete list of challenges will be present on the website on the Challenges page, and active matches and challenges can be viewed on the main landing page and the participating group landing page for the benefitting area.

During the campaign, share your stories and images using the hashtag #MUGiveBack to help spread the word! You can also become a Week of Giving ambassador, sharing messages and creating excitement about the event before and during the campaign. Spread awareness within your network using your preferred forms of communication and encourage others to join you in giving back to Mercer. Help the areas of Mercer you care most about earn matches and challenges throughout the week to maximize the power of gifts.

Thousands of companies match gifts to higher education, which can double or triple your gift. To find out if your employer (or your spouse’s employer) has a matching gift program, please visit Matching Gifts. If so, please contact your Human Resources representative for a matching gift form. You may need to provide Mercer’s Employer Identification Number (EIN) on the form, which is 58-0566167.

Mercer University is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your gift may provide you with federal and state income tax benefits:

• If you itemize deductions on your federal income tax return, you may be able to deduct your contribution to Mercer University from your adjusted gross income.
• Your state may also allow a credit or deduction.

You may make a gift to Mercer at any time; however, your gift won’t count toward the Week of Giving.  Regardless of when you give, how much you give, or the area you choose to support, your support makes a significant impact in the lives of our students.
