Student Support Programs

Educational Opportunity Center

Going to college for the first time or returning to school after many years may be overwhelming for students who do not have a good understanding of the college process. The Educational Opportunity Center offers admissions, financial aid, career planning, and academic enrichment services to help.

Mercer Firsts

The Mercer Firsts Program is a community of first-generation freshmen committed to attaining success at Mercer. The program connects each participant with an experienced mentor, a community of support, and guidance throughout the first year of college.

Opportunity Scholars

Opportunity Scholars assists first-generation and low-income students as well as students with disabilities to stay in college until they earn their baccalaureate degrees. Participants receive tutoring, counseling, financial guidance, and mentoring.

Upward Bound

Upward Bound helps youth prepare for higher education. Participants receive instruction in literature, composition, mathematics, and science on college campuses after school, on Saturdays, and during the summer.

Minority Mentor Program

The Minority Mentor Program is designed to give Minority students the opportunity to connect and feel a part of the Mercer Community. The purpose of the program is to provide social encouragement and academic support to participants.

Study abroad is an integral part of the college experience. Whether you are a liberal arts student satisfying course credits in South Korea or an engineering student gaining international service-learning experience in South Africa, Mercer Abroad has a program just for you.

International Students

Mercer University welcomes students from around the globe to study on our campuses. Our Office of International Student and Scholar Services guides international students throughout their time in the United States at Mercer University.

English Language Institute
