Offered in collaboration with Mercer University’s School of Business and School of Law, the Combined Master of Business Administration (MBA)/Juris Doctor (JD) program develops students into versatile practitioners and advisors by providing a foundation in both legal and business practices. Students have the opportunity to sharpen critical thinking and analytical skills to gain a greater understanding of how organizations function to provide well-informed counsel on complex legal issues.

Answering the call to ministry requires leadership, purpose, and a commitment to helping others. Through Mercer’s Combined Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Divinity (M.Div.), students can extend their impact as a servant leader by developing the skills necessary for success in ministry settings with business coursework that complements theological studies. Offered through Mercer University’s School of Business and School of Theology, the combined degree program will develop comprehensive leaders who flourish in various ministry settings.

For qualified Pharmacy students, Mercer University provides an opportunity to pursue the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree concurrently with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. The M.B.A. is earned through the Stetson-Hatcher School of Business.

The M.B.A. degree is a professional degree for qualified students interested in the management of human, material and/or financial resources in business, government and nonprofit institutions. The degree is designed to complement the Pharm.D. degree to broaden the occupational and professional opportunities of the prospective graduate in community, industry or institutional practice.

The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)/Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree Program enables highly qualified students to obtain both degrees in a shortened period of time. This Pharm.D./Ph.D. degree program is designed primarily for students who are strongly motivated toward an academic/research career in the pharmaceutical sciences.

Mercer’s Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision prepares professionals as practitioners, consultants, counselor educators, supervisors, and researchers. Students learn to examine critically the state of the field, to generate research inquiries, and to advance the profession of counseling through oral and written contributions. This degree is awarded to those who demonstrate a mastery of their field and who complete and defend a dissertation.

The Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction program is designed to prepare transforming curriculum and instructional leaders for local, state, and national levels. The program focuses on societal changes that are placing an ever-increasing emphasis upon the evolving role of the professional educator. The program is designed for working professionals with at least three years of experience and master’s level certification, and who hold a passion for transformative education. Completion of the program and a passing score on the GACE Content Assessment for Curriculum and Instruction will lead to eligibility for a Level 7 Service certificate upgrade. Blended classes incorporate online learning with three weekend, face-to-face meetings per semester on the Atlanta campus.

The Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) program educates physicians to meet the primary care and health care needs of rural and medically underserved areas of Georgia. The curriculum is patient-centered, providing early application of medical and clinical knowledge in a variety of classroom and clinical venues.

The Doctor of Ministry degree provides students with the knowledge, theoretical clarity, and competence of practice commensurate with the highest earned degree for the profession and practice of ministry. The D.Min. emphasizes both logistical flexibility through its hybrid learning format and hands-on faculty mentorship in the student’s local ministry context.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree program builds upon the foundation of baccalaureate and advanced nursing practice to prepare nurses for clinical and organizational leadership in health care and to propose solutions for the improvement of health care outcomes for individuals and for society.

The Doctor of Pharmacy Program is designed to provide the scholastic expertise and clinical acumen necessary to give high-quality patient-centered care in a variety of settings.

Mercer University’s College of Health Professions (CHP) and College of Pharmacy (COP) offer the Doctor of Pharmacy/Master of Public Health (PharmD/MPH) combined degree program. For qualified students in the COP, students can pursue a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree concurrently with the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. The PharmD degree is earned through the COP and the MPH degree is earned through the CHP.

The MPH degree program is designed to develop students into competent, passionate professionals ready to address the complex and dynamic challenges of public health in neighborhoods and populations in the U.S. and world. The MPH degree will complement the PharmD degree in a manner that will broaden the occupational and professional opportunities of the prospective graduate in community, industry, or institutional practice. The program has been carefully developed to permit concurrent pursuit of both the PharmD and the MPH curricula.

Physical therapists provide services that develop, maintain and restore a person’s maximum movement and functional ability across the lifespan. Mercer’s innovative eight-semester Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program provides a comprehensive entry-level professional education, including an integrated clinical education track that consists of service-learning, clinical experiences, and clinical internships.

Mercer University’s College of Health Professions and Stetson-Hatcher School of Business present the Doctor of Physical Therapy/ Master of Business Administration (DPT/MBA) combined degree program. The role of the physical therapist in administrative and business aspects of practice is increasing. Particularly in the private practice sector, clinic managers and directors have the responsibility for the administration and financial health of the practice. In addition, with doctoral level training, physical therapists are well positioned to assume administrative responsibilities in many health care organizations. An MBA would greatly enhance the physical therapist’s ability to effectively perform these roles.

Graduates of this program will be empowered to serve the needs of individuals and society while being well positioned to understand the current administrative and leadership environment in which they will engage. Sharing the goal of ethical business and practice, this combined degree program will strengthen the knowledge and ability of graduates to function in a global health care market.

Students admitted to the DPT/MBA program will complete both degrees in 4 years.

Mercer University’s College of Health Professions is pleased to offer the Doctor of Physical Therapy/Master of Public Health (DPT/MPH) combined degree program. The role of the physical therapist in health promotion and wellness is increasing, as is the role of the public health practitioner in addressing societal health concerns, and evaluating community-based programming. Sharing the goals of promoting wellness and health promotion, advocating for improved health of individuals and society, reducing health disparities, and improving the quality of life for families and communities, students in the DPT/MPH combined degree program will be challenged to confront complex health issues, such as improving access to health care, and reducing environmental hazards and injury.

The five-year Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology program is designed to produce graduates who are eligible for licensure as practicing clinical psychologists, particularly in interdisciplinary healthcare settings. Clinical practice provides students with conceptually and empirically based assessment, intervention, and consultation experiences. The program has established training partnerships with a variety of academic healthcare centers, hospitals, community mental health centers, correctional facilities, university counseling centers, and independent practices across a variety of specialties.

Mercer University’s College of Health Professions offers the PsyD/MPH combined degree program. This innovative combined degree program addresses the ongoing mental healthcare provider workforce shortage by preparing graduates to provide cost-effective, evidence-based mental healthcare to diverse populations within Georgia. This program is structured around one specific goal as stated in the Healthy People 2020 objective: “Improve mental health through prevention and by ensuring access to appropriate, quality mental health services”. Innovative programs such as the PsyD/MPH combined degree program address issues within the healthcare delivery system that are essential on both local and national levels. The curriculum plan facilitates preparation of mental healthcare providers who are able to address public health concerns and evaluate community-based programming.

The Doctor of Public Health (Dr.P.H.) program explores epidemiological and health equity concepts. It also emphasizes engaging communities to improve health outcomes to allow every person to attain full health potential without disadvantage due to social determinants of health. Students admitted to the Dr.P.H. program with a concentration in Diverse Populations and Health Equity will be poised to lead organizations, and design, implement, and evaluate health programs envisioned to benefit disadvantaged and minority groups.

The Doctor of Public Health (Dr.P.H.) program explores epidemiological and health equity concepts. It also emphasizes engaging communities to improve health outcomes to allow every person to attain full health potential without disadvantage due to social determinants of health. Students admitted to the Dr.P.H. program with a concentration in Social Epidemiology will be prepared to lead efforts that consider social and structural determinants of health to demonstrate the effects of privilege, racism, and other injustices on the health of diverse populations.

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Educational Leadership – Higher Education Leadership track promotes the acquisition and development of skills, values, and motivation for growth in leadership positions, thereby improving the entire educational segment of society. The program was designed to provide candidates with a solid blend of educational theory, research, and practice. The Higher Education Leadership track is designed for college and university leaders and practitioners who wish to develop research-based leadership skills. Blended classes incorporate online learning with three weekend, face-to-face meetings per semester on the Atlanta campus.

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Educational Leadership – Independent School Leadership track prepares candidates to become leaders in P-12 independent and charter schools by helping them grow in their ability to make decisions that propel both their students and their institutions forward. Candidates in the program integrate research and service to solve real-world challenges, both in the classroom and beyond. Blended classes incorporate online learning with three weekend, face-to-face meetings per semester on the Atlanta campus.
