The M.Ed. in Elementary Education – The Advanced Teacher program is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of currently certified educators in grades pre-K through 5, and focuses on leadership development, advocacy for all learners, best practices in pedagogy, and applied research skills. Upon completion of the program, educators with a Level 4 certification in Elementary Education will be eligible to upgrade their teaching certificate to a master’s level (Level 5) by the Georgia Professional Standards Committee. This program is fully online. (This program requires previous teacher certification.)

The Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in Elementary Education is intended for those who hold a bachelor’s degree and are seeking initial certification at the master’s level. The program is designed to offer a comprehensive study of the specialized skills and knowledge needed to teach and support young children in grades Pre-K through 5. The program offers a wide scope of course content that focuses on theoretical and pedagogical issues while incorporating research, assessment, and technology integration. Students complete the program through a blended combination of online instruction and in-person field experiences. Diverse field experiences prepare teachers to support the diverse needs of young students. This program leads to initial teacher certification.

The Master of Education in Higher Education Leadership prepares candidates to assume entry or mid-level leadership responsibilities in a variety of professional areas including: admissions and enrollment management, student affairs, advising, diversity, alumni relations and development, finance, human resources, facilities, and athletics. The program’s purpose is to develop transformational leaders who possess a strong understanding – grounded in leadership theory. This program is offered 100% online or through a blended combination of on-campus and online instruction at Mercer’s Macon campus.

Earning a Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology from Mercer University equips you to use instructional design approaches in a variety of workplace, educational, and training contexts.

The M.Ed. in Middle Grades Education – The Advanced Teacher program is designed to meet the needs of teachers in grades 4-8. Completion of the planned program (including the prerequisite Level 4 certificate in MGE) leads to eligibility for master’s level certification by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. The program offers a wide scope of advanced course content intended to expand the knowledge and skills of certified teachers and focuses on leadership development, advocacy for all learners, best practices in pedagogy, and applied research skills. The Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in Middle Grades Education is intended for those who hold a bachelor’s degree and are seeking initial certification at the master’s level. The M.Ed. in P–12 Education – The Advanced Teacher program is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of certified teachers in grades P-12. The program offers a wide scope of advanced course content intended to expand levels of knowledge, skills, and dispositions in P–12 level teachers. Completion of the planned program (including the prerequisite Level 4 certificate) leads to eligibility for master’s level (Level 5) certification by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. (This program requires previous teacher certification.)

The M.Ed. in Secondary Education – The Advanced Teacher program is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of certified teachers in grades 6-12. The program offers a wide scope of advanced course content intended to expand levels of knowledge, skills, and dispositions in secondary level teachers. Completion of the planned program (including the prerequisite Level 4 certificate) and a passing score on the GACE Content Assessment for Reading leads to eligibility for master’s level (Level 5) certification in Reading by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. (This program requires previous teacher certification.)

The Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in Secondary Education is intended for those who hold a bachelor’s degree and are seeking initial certification at the master’s level. The program is designed to offer a comprehensive study of the specialized skills needed to teach and support students in grades 6-12. The program offers a wide scope of course content that focuses on theoretical and pedagogical issues while incorporating research, assessment, and technology integration. Students complete the program through a blended combination of online instruction and in-person field experiences.
