Mercer students and faculty go beyond striving to reach their personal best and aim to be the very best in academia.
Every year, Bears are awarded prestigious and highly selective scholarships, fellowships and opportunities. Their talents and accomplishments set them apart among pools of candidates from across the nation and world.
Mercer has had 12 Goldwater Scholars since the 2012-2013 academic year; 19 Fulbright U.S. Student Award recipients since 2010; and was recently recognized as a Gilman Greatest Growth Institution for the University’s role in broadening the student population that studies abroad. An unprecedented 16 Mercer students were selected for the U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study or intern abroad during the spring, summer or fall of 2020.
For 2019-20, Mercer was once again ranked in the top tier of national universities and was named the No. 40 best value institution among national universities by U.S. News & World Report. Mercer was also recently classified as a doctoral university with high research activity by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
