John Webb Kerr was born March 7, 1835, at Greensboro, Ala. He entered the University of Alabama, October 19, 1852. He was elected first secretary of the Fraternity. After graduation in 1856, he began the study of law in the office of Chief Justice Peck of Alabama. In the fall of that year he entered the law department of Cumberland University at Lebanon, Tenn. He left shortly and entered Harvard Law School where he received his LL.B. in 1858. He died in St. Louis, Mo., September 14, 1898.
