Animal Behavior

John C. Wright, Ph.D, received his B.A. from Wittenberg University (1970), and his Master's (1972) and Doctorate (1976) in Experimental Psychology from Miami University. Dr. Wright taught psychology at Berea College (KY) and Clemson University (SC), and has served on the adjunct faculty of The University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine, and is on the faculty of the National Animal Control Association’s Certification Program. Dr. Wright is presently Professor of Psychology at Mercer University. He is an ABS Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist (1991), and a Charter Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science (1988).
As a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist, Dr. Wright has a successful veterinary referral house-calls practice in Atlanta (since 1980). He offers dog and cat behavior seminars and workshops across the nation. He has spoken internationally to the National Dog Warden's Association (UK), and in the U.S. to several organizations, including The American Veterinary Medical Association, and the National Animal Control Association.
Dr. Wright has authored numerous scholarly works on animal behavior, and has written three “popular” books, including the award-winning Is Your Cat Crazy? Solutions from the Casebook of a Cat Therapist. He has twice served as Chairman of the Animal Behavior Society's Board of Professional Certification (including its Inaugural Chair), has been on the Council of Directors for The Cat Writer’s Association. Dr. Wright is co-founder and organizer of the Interdisciplinary Forum for Applied Animal Behavior, and is on the editorial board for the Journal of Applied Animal Welfare Science.
