How to Create a New Homework Set

  1. Login and click on "hmwk sets editor" on the left side of the window.
  2. Click the radio button for "Create a new set"
  3. give the set a name
  4. choose whether you want to create a blank set or a copy of an existing set that you can then modify
  5. Click the "take action" button.
  6. When the screen reloads, you should see your set listed in the list of sets at the bottom of the screen.
  7. To edit the problems in your set, click on the number in the "edit problems" column of the table at the bottom of the screen.
  8. A "Set Detail" screen will load that will show due dates, headers, and any problems that are in the set.
  9. You can modify the due dates and headers.  (I don't recommend modifying the headers...I've done it and it's a bit of a pain due to some file issues.)
  10. To WRITE a new problem, click on "create" at the bottom of the page.  BUT, you probably DON'T want to write a new one from scratch.  SO...
  11. To add a problem from the library, click on "library browser."
  12. The "Problem Set Maker" screen should show "browse local problems" at the top.
  13. Now, you can view problems in specific pre-designed sets.  Make sure you set the "adding problems to Target set" to the set to which you want to add problems (i.e., your newly created, empty set).
  14. Click "view problems"
  15. Now, you can view the problems and then click "Add this problem to the current set on the next update" to add specific problems to your set.
  16. Finally, click "update" to add the problems you've selected to your set.
  17. Once your set is created, you need to select "Set Assigner" from the left column of the window, and then you can assign the set to all (or just some) of the users as desired.
