§Placement Exam§

Entering Mercer students are placed into their mathematics courses based on their math index score. This score is based on SAT scores and high school GPA. However, students who do not have an index score, or who would like to change their math placement are encouraged to take the mathematics placement exam.

Instructions

Note: Turn off your pop-up blocker. If your computer has a firewall, it may not be able to read the test. Do not use your mouse scroll wheel.

  • Log into Blackboard at Mercer.
  • Enter your User ID (your Mercer 8-digit ID number, no hyphens) and password (date of birth: YYMMDD).
  • Click on UNIV_PE Mercer University Placement Exam.
    • If you do not see this link, check your hidden courses.
    • If you still can not find the link, please contact the mathematics department.
  • We recommend that you take the Practice Test first.
  • Make sure that you have a free, uninterrupted block of time. You will have 30 minutes to complete the exam. The clock begins when you start the placement exam and can not be paused or stopped.
  • Follow directions carefully. Please do not use the internet or textbooks to aid you. Remember the tests are designed to place you into the most appropriate course to ensure you the maximum opportunity for success.
