Aug. 10 JFL Session during CLA New Faculty Orientation 12-1:30 p.m. JFL will have lunch with the new CLA faculty to discuss what it's like to be a new faculty member in the College of Liberal Arts. (Location: Ingleside Village Pizza; Montpilier Avenue) Aug. 23 Annual JFL Fall Picnic 5:00-8:00 pm JFL will provide the meat (BBQ pork & chicken fingers), drinks, and utensils. We request that attendees bring a side: vegetable, salad, slaw, chips, or dessert. Spouses/significant others & children welcome. (Location: Room 314 of Connell Student Center) Oct 3. Meeting with Provost Daniel 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. JFL will have an opportunity to meet with Provost Wallace Daniel. He will be discussing his role in shaping Mercer's academic future and we can provide input. (Location - Faculty Lounge of Administration Building) Oct. 17 Interdisciplinary Studies Roundtable 10-10:50 am In late October, the chair of each department and directors of each program have to submit a teaching schedule for the 09-10 academic year. To help you all understand Interdisciplinary programs and to help with teaching schedule decisions, the JFL will hold a meeting with IDS program directors (First Year Seminar, First Year Seminar-Experiential, Scientific Inquiry, Great Books, and Senior Capstone) to let them explain their programs to you. (Location - Groover Room 112) Dec. 5 or 10 Bowling at the Gold Cup Time to be determined Celebrate the end of the semester! Watch your email for a chance to vote for your favorite date and time. February Leadership Forum Time to be determined How do JFLers prepare ourselves for our eventual role as campus leaders? Attend this forum to discuss this topic with Dean Fallis and other College leaders. Early April Benefits and HR Discussion Time to be determined JFLers will have an opportunity to learn about Mercer benefits and resources policies. What do our insurance policies at Mercer really cover? Do we need supplemental insurance? How should we plan for retirement? How can we best take advantage of medical flex accounts and dependent childcare accounts? What type of benefits are granted after the birth or adoption of a child or needing to take leave to care for a family member? Late April Annual JFL Spring Cookout Time to be determined Celebrate the end of another academic year! JFL will provide food and drink. |
