MERCER UNIVERSITY BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS PROGRAM
Mercer University created a BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS PROGRAM in
compliance with the Federal Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA)
Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29CFR 1910.1030). Mercer University administers a bloodborne pathogens program
that is designed to evolve with the changing needs of employees identified to have a risk
of occupational exposure to human blood and other potentially
infectious materials specific to humans. The program is based upon the Mercer
University Exposure Control Plan which was prepared according to the
OSHA - 29CFR 1910.1030
Standard, which is also consistent with the Center for Disease Control (CDC)
recommendations for Health-Care environments.
Mercer University has identified several classifications of employees
whose regular duties provide opportunities for exposure. Examples include various
Professional Health Care disciplines, Law Enforcement officers, and Maintenance Operations
employees. If you have questions concerning your potential workplace exposure to
human bloodborne pathogens, please consult your immediate supervisor.
If
questions remain from your initial investigation, contact the Health and Safety Office for
further guidance.
