  The Society of Women Engineers
The Mercer University Chapter

The Mercer Chapter of the Society of Women Engineers received its charter in 1992. The National Society of Women Engineers (SWE) was founded in 1950. SWE is a non-profit educational and service organization that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and be recognized for their their life-changing contributions and achievements
as engineers and leaders.

The Mercer Chapter of SWE is involved in many ways on campus and in the community. Some of the activities for the upcoming year include the following:

- Annual Chili Cook-off
- Resume Workshop
- Christmas Philanthropy
- National Engineering Week Activities
- Engineers' Night Out
- Alumni Speakers
- Homecoming Activities

Dr. Laura Moody is the faculty advisor for the Mercer University Chapter of the Society of Women Engineers. Dr. Moody is an associate professor and chair of the department of Industrial Engineering and Industrial Management. She teaches courses in human factors and industrial engineering.
