"Over a year has passed since my graduation from Mercer's Engineering School and the Honors Program, and I am convinced my experiences in the program have contributed to my success in the real world. Beginning my sophomore year, my partner and I began work on a project researching children's multimedia and child psychology. We then used this information to create a child's educational game using Macromedia Flash, tested the game on a classroom of children, and drew conclusions as to the impact multimedia plays on young children's learning experiences. Such a comprehensive project required me to apply excellent time management skills, introduced me to behind-the-scenes paperwork such as gaining proper approval to test using human subjects, and stretched my abilities as a researcher and designer. My experiences gave me the confidence to show initiative in all my endeavors. Because of the strong project experience I gained through the Honors Program, I have found great success since graduating. I have received two international awards for my design work, maintained my own design consulting firm, and received a prestigious internship at the global financial firm UBS in London, England where I will be applying my design skills to enhance their educational initiatives. My interviewer at UBS was extremely impressed by my project experience and self-starter qualities, qualities enhanced through Mercer's Engineering Honors Program."
