Core curriculum
- OBJECT-ORIENTED Design I and II (SSE 550, 554) develops robust software construction capability in Java, C++ or C#.
- Object-Oriented Project Methods (SSE
657) develops capability in object-oriented
analysis, design, and testing to cover the software development and maintenance life cycle.
- DESIGN QUALITY AND MAINTENANCE (SSE 659) develops capability in lower-level software design and design improvement.
- Design PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS (SSE 658) develops capability in creating or improving the quality of higher-level designs.
- Special Topics Courses in other areas
such as software security and software
development process management enable students to transfer some of the latest knowledge from industry to their work.

Additional Curriculum Information:
- The master's degree curriculum is constantly under revision to keep pace with changes in software engineering.
- Students who continue to be active in the program are effectively protected from any delay in graduation that would otherwise be caused by these changes.
- 30 semester hours are required for the degree; at least 18 hours total must be at the 600 level.
- At least 18 hours must be in SSE courses; at least 12 of these must be at the 600 level.
