The
Allen and Jane Grum Endowed Scholarship for
Industrial Engineering Students
Undergraduate
Purpose
The purpose of the Allen and Jane Grum Scholarship is to support Industrial
Engineering students in the School of Engineering at Mercer University.
To that end, an endowment to the University will assure that one rising
sophomore each year will receive a scholarship to continue his or her
studies in Industrial Engineering.
The award for each year will be equal to 1/3 of the interest earned by
the endowment for that year (for example, the award for 2007/2008 is
$2,500.) The scholarship will continue through the junior and senior
year so long as the student maintains eligibility, and the exact amount
given each year will be equal to 1/3 of the interest earned by the endowment
that year.
Eligibility
To be considered for the Allen and Jane Grum Scholarship a student must:
- Be a full-time student in good standing in the Mercer
University School of Engineering, with a major in Engineering,
and a declared
specialization in Industrial Engineering.
- Be a rising sophomore. Typically, rising sophomore is
defined as someone who has three years remaining to complete
their BSE.
Application Procedure
The application period will be announced during the fall semester each
year. Application forms will be made available at the time of the announcement.
Applicants will be asked to submit the completed form, along with a
typewritten statement (approximately 2 – 3 paragraphs) stating
their reasons for selecting Industrial Engineering as a career. Questions
may be addressed
to any member of the ISE faculty listed below.
The award will be announced during the spring semester and will continue
through the student’s sophomore, junior, and senior years as long
as the student is academically eligible and specializing in Industrial
Engineering.
Selection criteria
The scholarship will be awarded based on the quality of the applicant’s
essay, as well as SAT scores and Mercer GPA.
