Focused on the changing times, the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts at Mercer University provides an organized and unique approach to a more complex understanding of our culture - our signs, symbols, and codes, as well as an extensive look into the ever-expanding world of mass communication, media, modes of communication, and theatrical performance. Our program includes both theoretical and practical, "hands-on" strategies to develop communication and theatre generalists. The members of the Department are concerned with helping to guide and enrich students who are seeking a strong liberal arts background, as well as those who are interested in the technical and professional opportunities in the many fields of Communication and Theatre Arts.
The Department also offers various co-curricular
programs, such as the
Mercer Debate Society
and the Mercer University
Theatre, in which students can not only compete on the intercollegiate
level, but also earn course credit.
