Introduction

Pizza started in Naples, Italy in 1889. A chef made a pizza for a queen. It was the colors of the Italian flag, which are red, green, and white. It is thought that the word pizza came from an Italian word, which means "to pinch or to pluck". Lots of people in Italy loved pizza. They ate pizza everyday! People ate it for breakfast, snack, lunch, and supper. In 1905 a restaurant in New York started out with selling pizza. Many people came and tested the pizza to see if it tasted good. Now there are over 61,000 pizza places in the United States of America. Today in the United States people put different ingredients on pizza. People in America eat lots of pizza everyday. Now people make pizzas, put them in stores to freeze so that other people can buy it and take home to bake.

Pizza can be healthy. The cheese is rich in calcium for building stronger bones. The crust has energy—giving carbohydrates and fiber. Tomatoes and vegetable toppings provide fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Stay away from greasy meat toppings. One slice of sausage pizza has eight more grams of fat than a slice of plain cheese pizza. It is said that Americans eat more than 100 acres of pizza everyday. Sixty one percent of Americans favor thin-crust pizza, twenty eight percent prefer thick-crust or pan pizza. Pepperoni, the number one topping, is on thirty six percent of pizza orders. Anchovies rank last.

Hypothesis

I think that Tony’s pizza has the most pepperoni, because their pizza is very large.

I don’t think that Tombstone pizza has a lot of pepperoni on the pizza.

Materials

  1. Tony’s Pizza
  2. Tombstone Pizza
  3. Microwave Oven
  4. Scale

Procedure:

  1. Cook the two different pizzas
  2. Take the pepperoni off the two pizzas
  3. Locate the price of the pizzas
  4. Weigh the pepperoni
  5. Subtract the price of the cheese pizza from the price of the pepperoni pizza
  6. Divide the price of the pepperoni pizza by the weight of the pepperoni for each pizza
  7. Record results

Conclusions

The pizzas cost the same amount, so we had to change our question to find out which pizza had the most pepperoni. Tony’s had the most pepperoni with an average of 21.35 grams. Tombstone pizza contained an average of 19.37 grams of pepperoni on each pizza. We accept our hypothesis.
