About Us

The Mercer Astronomy Club is a relatively new club on campus. We started in the Spring of 2006. Since our first semester the club has grown tremendously. The goal of the Astronomy Club is to study space objects ranging from planets found in our galaxy, distant stars, nebulae, and other deep space objects. We meet regularly and try to plan at least one trip to a "dark site" per month. We also participate in deep space viewing with the Middle Georgia Astronomical Society at Elko and Brown's Mount. These are two "dark sites" that are close to home.
