The Academic Resource Center hires student workers as Lab Assistants, Tutors, and SI Leaders.
All Tutors must have at least a 3.0 GPA and sophomore status or higher. Tutors provide individual assistance in one or more designated disciplines. They work in the ARC during specified hours on the weekly schedule and tutor students who drop-in during those hours. Other duties include helping out with answering the telephone and other general office duties. It is the primary responsibility of tutors to provide academic guidance and modeling for students who come for appointments; they do not complete homework assignments or take-home exams.
Computer usage in the ARC demands that Lab Assistants also be familiar with computers and software applications. Training is provided to teach Lab Assistants how to assist student users and visiting faculty in the proper operation of PC-compatible equipment and programs. They must be able to diagnose minor problems encountered while preparing documents or printing. Routine duties will also include general housekeeping responsibilities.
If you are interested in becoming a tutor, please print and complete the following 3 documents and return to Stephanie Mooring in room 121 of the Academic Resource Center.
