Beta Sigma has a long-standing tradition of honoring and encouraging one another by giving each other “violets” for the many individual accomplishments of chapter members.

Beta Sigma Chapter received the following awards at Alpha Delta Pi’s 158th Grand Convention (“Excellence” is the highest honor for a chapter in any area): Scholastic Excellence, Panhellenic Excellence, Philanthropy Excellence, Alpha Education Excellence, Harris Financial Excellence, Recruitment Excellence, History Excellence, Adelphean Excellence, TME Achievement, and the Stanard Award for Leadership and Excellence.

Meredith Milligan was the voting delegate of Beta Sigma at Alpha Delta Pi’s 158th Grand Convention at the Renaissance Resort in Orlando, FL.

Heather Whitaker was awarded the Dorothy Shaw Leadership Award at the 158th Grand Convention.

Amanda Gonzalez completed her service as an Alpha Delta Pi Leadership Consultant this summer 2009.

Cara Burgess received a prestigious internship with The Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation.

Pi Chi received an internship with Big Brother, Big Sisters for this fall 2009 semester.

Julia Chenault, Amry Stanley, Anna Stephens, and Christina Shaw are working at Summer Beach Project for Campus Outreach during summer 2009.

Molly Pfeiffer, Pi Chi, and A.C. Davis completed Mercer On Mission for summer 2009.

Anna Stephens will be working on staff with Campus Outreach at Augusta State University during the 2009-10 school year.

Margee Jardine completed the Stetson School of Business week-long study abroad trip in London, England.

Emily Clarke completed a medical mission trip to Honduras during June 2009.

Christina Kivi will be studying philosophy and art in Florence, Italy, during July 2009.

Elisabeth Slaten will be studying opera and performance in Graz, Austria, during July 2009.

Margee Jardine is the General Assistant to Jeremy Baham for all camps held at Mercer during summer 2009.

Shannon Giddens, Meredith Milligan, Pi Chi, Cassie Sanders, Marion Goodloe, Brielle Guta, and A.C. Davis attended RUF summer conference 2009 at Panama City Beach, FL.

Molly Pfeiffer and A.C. Davis were inducted into Order of Omega Honor Society.

Pi Chi, Meredith Milligan, and Andrea Barger made the President’s list for Spring 2009.

Shannon Giddens was honored on the Dean’s list for Spring 2009.

Jena Palmer was named Sigma Nu sweetheart.

Alyson Grogan, PA, Cassie Sanders and Margee Jardine were on Lambda Chi Alpha Rose Court.

Courtney Bailey and Meredith Milligan served as FYS preceptors during the spring 2009 semester.

Jessica Skinner will be working with Teach for America in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this fall 2010.

Liz Carson, Sydney Nehrig, and Jamie Alongi are currently working with Teach for America in Houston, Texas, and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Lanta Cooper will be attending McAfee School of Theology in Atlanta this fall 2010.

Suzanne Bottorff completed a semester abroad in Oxford, England, during spring 2009.

Deborah Carley completed a semester abroad in Hong Kong during spring 2009.

Beta Sigma Chapter won the Scholarship Bowl for the highest overall Panhellenic GPA at the 2009 Greek Awards.

Meredith Milligan won the Individual Panhellenic Scholarship Award for highest individual GPA at the 2009 Greek Awards.

Kristen Soles won Outstanding Greek Advisor at the 2009 Greek Awards.

Heather Whitaker was awarded Outstanding TCO Senior at Honors Day 2009.

Meredith Milligan won the J. Marion Roberts Award at Honors Day 2009.

Meredith Milligan, Kristin Reid, and Pi Chi were inducted into Phi Kappa Phi honor society this spring 2009.

Shannon Giddens was elected SGA sophomore senator.

PA received an internship with GA Tech Research Institute for summer 2009.

Shannon Giddens took oath of office as a member of Mercer’s Honor Council.

Molly Pfeiffer and Meredith Milligan completed the ING Half-Marathon in March 2009.

Margee Jardine was presented at the Debutant Ball for The Pickwick Club in New Orleans, Louisiana.

PA completed an internship with Macon’s Cherry Blossom Festival during spring 2009.

Meredith Milligan and Pi Chi served on the RUF mission team to Scotland during March 2009.

Maegen Manly was appointed the Panhellenic Philanthropy Director and attended SEPC where Mercer’s Panhellenic won an Outstanding Philanthropy Award.

Anna Fondren was appointed IFC/NHPC Delegate for the Panhellenic Council.

Becca Gunn, PA, and Maegen Manly helped plan Dance Marathon. The event raised $21,000.

Kelly Nightingale was inducted into Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society.

Maegen Manly planned and executed the Panhellenic Purse Auction, raising several hundred for Crisis Line in Macon.

Pi Chi was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma.

Maegen Manly served on the Leadership MU Executive Committee.

Kellie Chastain was given a job with Mercer Admissions, serving as an Admissions Counselor for the 2008-09 school year.
