Recruitment
Alpha Delta Pi knows the future of our sisterhood depends on the women we recruit into our chapter. New faces, ideas, opinions, and friendships help our chapter grow and change. For this reason, ADPi looks forward to recruitment and new members!
ADPi offers many opportunities for leadership, sisterhood, scholarship, and service. As these are our founding principles, everything we do strives to incorporate these values. We also pride ourselves on individuality. You won't find a bunch of "cookie-cutter" images in our house. Our unique blend of interests, backgrounds, and personalities set us apart from the rest. Many of our chapter members participate at Mercer as recruitment counselors and PA's. In order to help potential members get the most unbiased view of Greek life, these members are disaffiliated, meaning they cannot wear their letters or let anyone know the organization to which they belong. You will notice that our disaffiliated members are covered on our website so we do not give away their identity. We cannot wait reveal our members and welcome them back on Bid Day!
Here are some things you should know about our chapter during recruitment:
- Alpha Delta Pi was the first secret society for collegiate women. Founded in 1851, we recently celebrated our 150th anniversary, a momentous achievement!
- Never will you be hazed. Alpha Delta Pi was the first sorority to abolish hazing. Alpha Delta Pi promotes sisterhood and friendship among members, and hazing in no way achieves this goal.
- New members are not called pledges. We feel the term is derogatory and infers hazing. New members are Alpha sisters, initiates Delta sisters, and alumnae Pi sisters. Alphas have the same rights as Deltas.
- Alpha Delta Pi has one of the shortest new member periods, strengthening the sisterhood of our chapter as a whole rather than that of individual pledge classes.
