Macon, Ga. -- The Mercer University women's soccer team scored a 2-1 overtime victory against Berry College this afternoon at Bear Field. The win moves the Bears to 6-11 overall. The loss drops the Lady Vikings to 15-2. The win ended Berry's 15 game winning streak.
Johanna Norkvist scored the first goal for Mercer 57 seconds into the game on a great pass from Kathryn Ladniak. The Lady Vikings then responded with a goal of their own 19:55 into the first half. Deidre Campanella scored the goal for Berry, with the assist coming from Heather Hiland. The teams then went scoreless for the rest of regulation, and in overtime, Mercer's Kristina Halldin capitalized on one of her seven shots on the day for the winning goal. Ladniak also had the assist on the gamewinner.
Mercer's last game of the year occurs this Friday afternoon at Bear Field when they host the Eagles of Georgia Southern. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
