SAVANNAH ROTARY CLUB SPEAKER TO DISCUSS THE GEORGIA CANCER COALITION AND POTENTIAL IMPACT ON AREA

WHO: W. Douglas Skelton, M.D., senior vice president for university research and health affairs, Mercer University.

WHAT: As guest speaker at the Savannah Rotary Club, Skelton will discuss the Georgia Cancer Coalition and how Savannah-area health care institutions might participate in the venture.

WHERE: Hilton Savannah DeSoto, 15 East Liberty Street, Savannah

WHY: The Savannah community has the professional expertise to contribute greatly to the Georgia Cancer Coalition's mission -- to make Georgia a national leader in cancer treatment and research by accelerating research, prevention, early detection and treatment. In addition to enhancing health care and improving access to quality care in southeast Georgia, the work of area health care providers participating in the Coalition would provide unique opportunities to improve the region economically.
