MACON, Ga. -- Erica Zeigler of Anniston, a 2001 Mercer University graduate, was commissioned as a second lieutenant into the Medical Service Corps at the Mercer University United States Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps Commissioning Ceremony held May 13 in Macon. She is the daughter of David and Beverly Zeigler of Anniston.
While at Mercer, Zeigler served as the 2001 ROTC Training Officer. She also served on the Mercer Color Guard all four years and was named platoon leader for fall 2000. She was named on both the Dean's and President's Lists and was a member of Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society. She also served as a resident assistant and participated in the Mercer Bear Buddies Volunteer Big Brother/ Big Sister Program.
Zeigler received a bachelor of science degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from Mercer. She was given an educational delay in order to attend Mercer's Southern School of Pharmacy in Atlanta this fall. Upon completion of Pharmacy School, Zeigler will attend the Medical Service Officer Basic Course at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Zeigler is the third of four sisters to graduate from Mercer University and be commissioned into the United States Army.
