Macon, Ga. - With Timothy McVeigh's execution put on hold while the FBI turns over evidence to McVeigh's attorneys, many media outlets are in need of expert analysis.

Jim Fleissner, professor at the Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law, is an expert in trial practice and criminal law. Professor Fleissner provided analysis and commentary of the McVeigh trial on CNN, MSNBC and the "Newshour with Jim Lehrer" on PBS. He is a former federal prosecutor and former colleague of Joe Hartzler and Scott Mendeloff, who prosecuted the McVeigh case.

Prior to joining the Mercer law faculty in 1994, Professor Fleissner was assistant United States Attorney in Chicago, leading the 45-member staff of the General Crimes Section. He was trial counsel in 18 jury trials and author or supervisory editor of more than 100 briefs in the United States Court of Appeals.

A five-time winner of Mercer Law School's Outstanding Professor Award, Professor Fleissner has written numerous articles for legal journals and law reviews, including "Bomb Trial Ploy May Self-Destruct," The National Law Journal, April 7, 1997. He also testified before the Judiciary Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives concerning the Comprehensive Antiterrorism Act of 1995.

He is a summa cum laude graduate of the Marquette University and earned his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School.
