Macon, Ga. - With golfer Casey Martin's lawsuit against the Professional Golfers Association soon to be decided by the Supreme Court, Martin v. PGA Tour Inc., No. 00-24, many media outlets are in need of expert analysis.

Mercer University law professor Adam Milani is an expert in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), especially as it relates to athletes. Professor Milani consulted with Martin's lawyers as they prepared their brief for the Supreme Court and also reviewed and commented on the drafts of briefs filed by disability advocacy groups supporting Martin.

In addition, he worked extensively with the attorney for a disabled professional golfer who unsuccessfully sought the right to ride a cart during qualifying for the U.S. Open in the case Olinger v. United States Golf Ass'n, 205 F.3d 1001 (7th Cir. 2000).

Professor Milani helped Olinger's counsel prepare for the Seventh Circuit oral argument and in drafting a subsequent petition for rehearing. After that was denied, he prepared a brief in support of a petition to have the Supreme Court hear the case.

He has written extensively on the ADA, including an article on how it impacts the right of disabled athletes to participate in sports, Can I Play?: The Dilemma of the Disabled Athlete in Interscholastic Sports, 49 Alabama Law Review 817 (1998).

Professor Milani is an honors graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he worked for three years in the sports information office, and the Duke University Law School. He is an expert in the fast-growing area of disability law, particularly in connection with that law's impact on athletics.

To schedule an interview with Professor Milani of the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University, contact Lance Wallace at (478) 301-4037 or (800) 837-2911.
