MACON -- Summer fun and learning are the primary goals of Mercer Youth University, offered by the Mercer University Office of Continuing Education. The day-program is designed for students ages 7-12, with courses held on the University's Macon campus. Two semesters of classes will be offered, July 9-20 and July 16-Aug. 3.
The cost of the Youth University is $299 per semester, and students can choose from a number of courses. A sampling of programs includes "Computer Explorer," a computer class that focuses on the Internet; "Math Riddles," in which participants learn mathematics by solving riddles; "Space Travel," which allows students to travel to another planet by use of a computer; "Blast Off!," which teaches Newton's Third Law of Motion by building a model rocket; and "Jump and Jive," where students learn to swing dance.
