Summer fun and learning are the primary goals of Mercer Youth University, offered by the Mercer University Office of Continuing Education. The day-program is designed for students ages 7-12, with courses held on the University's Atlanta campus, 3001 Mercer University Drive, which is just south of Spaghetti Junction. The program runs June 11- Aug. 3, with courses offered in four two-week semesters.
The cost of the youth university is $299 per semester and students can choose from a number of courses that draw on the interests of the participants. "Dr. Seuss" has participants rewriting the ending of a Dr. Seuss tale; "Splashdown" allows water exploration with games such as water polo, basketball and volleyball; "Rockets" introduces and reinforces scientific methods as students devise and test hypothesis, and "French" teaches songs, counting and beginning conversational French.
