Graduates from the Tift College of Education of Mercer University passed the state's certification tests for 1999-2000 with flying colors, according to statistics recently published by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
Students from Mercer's full-time undergraduate programs had a 100 percent passage rate on the reading, mathematics and writing sections of the Praxis I examination, which features complex multiple-choice and essay questions that measure breadth and depth of knowledge. Mercer graduates also exceeded the statewide passage rate for early childhood, middle grades, learning disabilities and several academic subject areas.
A complete copy of Mercer's teacher assessment passage rates is published online at http://www.mercer.edu/education/reportcard.html.
