Wade ShawWade H. Shaw, B.S., M.S., Ph.D., P.E.
Dean, School of Engineering

Prior to coming to Mercer on July 1, 2009, Wade Shaw served as professor of engineering systems at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Fla., and editor-in-chief of IEEE Engineering Management Review.

Over his nearly 20-year career at Florida Tech, Dr. Shaw has served as associate dean of engineering, director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence and program chair of engineering management and technology management. A registered professional engineer, his other professional activities include service as president of the IEEE Engineering Management Society and associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing. He has been a consultant to numerous companies and military branches, including Boeing Aerospace, Rockwell International, Piper Aircraft Corp., the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.

An award-winning faculty member at Florida Tech, Dr. Shaw is a distinguished military graduate of Clemson University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, a master’s degree in systems engineering, and a Ph.D. in engineering management. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and earned the U.S. Army Commendation Medal, the Army Service Award, and the Meritorious Service Award, as well as an Army Doctoral Fellowship.

His research interests are in simulation modeling, engineering and technology management, systems engineering, systems analysis and design, and project management. He has published numerous monographs, research papers and newspaper articles on business and engineering-related topics and has been awarded research grants from various corporations, the National Science Foundation and branches of the U.S. military.
