While at Mercer, David worked with the faculty of the Environmental Engineering department to publish a research paper on the Ozonation of Waste Activated Sludge during his junior year. David plans to pursue other research topics related to Mechanical Engineering while earning a Master of Science in Engineering.

He has enhanced his time at Mercer with multiple co-operative educational experiences. He has worked at Robins Air Force Base with the 402d Electronics Maintenance Group, where he gathered information pertaining to the use of test equipment no longer critical to mission function, and the roles that these pieces of test equipment could fill. He has also cooped at two local consulting engineering firms where he worked on projects ranging from heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system design, to the design of a water treatment facility.

During David’s time at Mercer, he has been very active in the School of Engineering and throughout the campus. He is a member of the Mercer University chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers where he served as Vice President. He is also a student member of Engineers Without Borders, a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, and has served as the Alumni Chairman. While not associated with formal sports on campus, he competes in local area triathlons and participates in charity bike rides.
