student spotlight The accomplishments of our students are very important to us at the School of Engineering. Please join us in congratulating the 2006 Outstanding Graduate among engineering students with a specialization in Electrical Engineering, Adrienne Lovelace.
Adrienne Lovelace graduated from the School of Engineering in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a specialization in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering with a specialization in Software Engineering. The 2006 Outstanding Graduate within the specialization, Lovelace was on the Dean's List nine semesters as well as took advantage of Mercer's study abroad program, studying at the University of Wales for one semester. Excelling both inside and outside of the classroom, Lovelace participated in the School's 5th year Master's program and graduated with an impressive 3.69 grade point average. She was also a leader on campus, participating in extracurricular activities including Tau Beta Pi honor society, the Binary Bears Programming Team, the Baptist Student Union-- to which she served as Vice President and Missions Fundraising Chair, and the Technical Support Team of the Bear Hands Sign Language Ministry. She was also an active member of Ingleside Baptist Church and played clarinet in the church orchestra. Lovelace was one of four team members who collaborated to build an autonomous robot to compete in the 2006 IEEE Southeast Convention Student Hardware Competition. The team was highly successful and placed fourth in a field of over twenty schools. Lovelace was the team lead for motor control. Lovelace supplemented her studies within the school by working at Lovelace Gas Service Inc. Within her role there, she upgraded propane truck computers from “Cybercard” to newer SD Flash Card technology. She also performed the following additional tasks:
After graduation, Lovelace accepted a position at Lockheed Martin Simulation, Training & Support in Orlando, FL where she works as a software engineer. |
